We envision caring professionals across Texas collaborating to create safe, supportive and drug-free communities in which children will thrive.
TADEC advocates for intervention on behalf of children in volatile drug environments and assists communities in building collaborative, multidisciplinary Drug Endangered Children (DEC) alliances.
We believe...
- All children deserve to be loved, nurtured and provided for in a safe environment.
- Strengthening collaborative efforts among existing community resources is the best way to provide the necessary services and support for children exposed to volatile drug environments.
- Providing education and resources to multidisciplinary professionals increases the effectiveness of comprehensive community responses to drug endangered children.
- Leveraging the full scope of their resources, communities can break the cycle of drug abuse.
The Texas Alliance for Drug Endangered Children
was formed in an effort to protect Texas children living in volatile
drug environments. Professionals from law enforcement, child
protective services, the criminal justice system, medical and
mental health professions, educators, and other child advocates
have come together to make children a priority.
The Texas Alliance
for Drug Endangered Children is available to provide training
and consultation to Texas communities interested in creating
their own local DEC programs. Additionally, we have developed
inter-agency protocols that outline the appropriate process for
handling children found in these dangerous environments. These
protocols make everyone’s jobs more efficient, cut
out the redundancy between different agencies, and more importantly,
create a safety net to protect our children.
